Description:

This is a pretty close shot, but there are thousands of these little green discs growing in between these wood slats in my backyard. I'm not sure what kind of wood they are, but they rest directly on the ground, forming a sort of deck. The backyard is VERY wet, and rarely gets a chance to dry out. It also only gets a little morning sun. Thank you!

Wow, thanks! I'm going to look that up! This was my first submission, what a neat little app! And I've been wondering about those little things since I moved into this house. I almost wondered if I miscategorized them and they should be under "fungus" cause up close in person they almost look like.

The photo's a little blurry, but based on those little umbrella structures and the shape of the leaves, I would say it's a liverwort (possibly a species of Marchantia). They like to grow in shady, moist areas, often in crevices or on the bottom of uprooted trees.
