Field Notes

Description:

One of the two civets in Hong Kong. It is widely distributed in the territory. It is an omnivore, eating mostly fruits, some invertebrates and occasionally vertebrates. It is nocturnal, so one could only spot its occurrence in daytime by identifying its faeces.

Habitat:

Forest.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know there was that much protected land there.
Thanks. Not bad I think, in such a city, around 70% seems. But most of them is secondary forest instead of mature one, because of WWII... ... But I'm glad that Hong Kong has 40% land within country parks or other protected areas. Not much mammals & most are nocturnal actually, but other taxa is quite rich within such a small place.
Nice capture. Civets are so cool. Is there a lot of forest on Hong Kong? Sorry, I don't know much about the nature there.
