Thanks for the details Alison, I've updated the names. BTW its not my side, I was just on a Round-the-world trip following retirement.
According to Wikipedia, it is found in New Zealand. I also found a website for the Monarch Butterfly New Zealand Trust, so it must be on your side of the Pacific too.
