Field Notes

Description:

Come in many varieties. Are low to the ground and have a profusion of long, thin leaves. They are the first to bloom in the spring- aside from camellias, which really bloom in the winter, and pansies, which are in bloom all winter long.

Habitat:

These are in a humid sub-tropical climate, but I think they'll grow almost anywhere, provided the winters there are cold enough.

Notes:

More crocuses seemed to sprout this year. They've been doing well. However, none of our purple crocuses bloomed.
