Haliaeetus leucocephalus
58.3268, -134.467
Field Notes
Habitat:
Typically nest in forested areas adjacent to large bodies of water, staying away from heavily developed areas when possible. May congregate around fish processing plants, dumps, and below dams where fish concentrate preferring tall, mature coniferous or deciduous trees for perching.
Notes:
This young eagle, along with some gulls, was enjoying a nice Chum Salmon at the first tour stop of our Alaska cruise.
