Description:

Found this while watering my garden. I didn't see legs. The shell is hard and there is a foot coming from the front

It could be a tobacco hornworm, here's an example of one that I've found: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/5010581. That tube at its anterior end is actually the tube for its tongue, not its foot.
Possibly a tobacco hornworm... Will turn into a giant moth.
