Queen's Tears
Bromeliad Billbergia Nutans
32.8045, -117.183
Field Notes
Description:
Long leaves with spines on the sides (much like an aloe but these are sharp). The flowers begin as a long stalk which develops pink/red conical flowers as the stalk droops over. Finally, blue/purple flowers with white centers appear on the ends.
Notes:
We inherited this plant when we moved into the house. It was ugly and overgrown. Then these impressive flowers appeared on it and kept it from being discarded last year. I'd love to know what it is so I can improve it's appearance by giving it a more suitable growing environment.
