Description:

There are 3 subspecies of this lizard that live in different areas of California. The California subspecies (shown) is found in the central valley, parts of the South Bay, and extends down to around the Los Angeles area. The coastal subspecies is found in southern California along the ocean while the Great Basin subspecies exists throughout eastern mountains and non-coastal southern California.
