Field Notes

Description:

A gilled polypore may sound like an oxymoron, but this polypore does actually have true gills. The textured cap is irregularly shaped with concentric zones of yellow, orange, brown, and gray colors. The gills are white.

Habitat:

Growing on a log in a deciduous forest.

Notes:

Trametes betulina or Lenzites betulina? I'm not sure what the current taxonomy is, but these names may be synonymous.
