Description:
Fork-tailed Drongo, also called the Common or African or Savanna drongo, from the family Dicruridae, is a medium-sized (some 22-25cm in length) and all-glossy-black bird. The adult bird has distinctively red eyes, and a heavy, hooked, somewhat shrike-like beak.
Habitat:
This passerine bird is an Old World species and is found all over of Africa. Here seen in savannah regions of hotter part of Ethiopia, in Somali Region.
Notes:
This is a fearless and aggressive bird, in many ways resembling a shrike. They are often seen attacking much larger birds and animals, even birds of prey, especially when defending their nest or youngs.
Drongos are insectivorous, and hunt from a prominent perch. They are usually solitary and form monogamous breeding pairs.
