Description:

A tangled bush about 6 feet tall, had a few flowers

Notes:

I think this is probably either a coastal or silver banksia, but not sure...

Another possibility is Swamp Banksia (Banksia littoralis). Closely related to River banksia. Hope this helps.
The flowers of this species can sometimes be red in colour also, and not always yellow. Vinny is right about the leaf, but I think this species is pretty close. I thought initially this may have been a Hairpin Banksia, but the leaves are much finer than your spotting.
