Field Notes

Description:

This tree frog was attached to my window after a heavy rain system that went through our area. I am a bit confused because there is no significant water source nearby. It seems to be a gray’s tree frog but almost looks like a Cuban tree frog as well.

Habitat:

Suburban neighborhood. Minimal water sources and minimal trees.

Notes:

Could you identify? I am thinking it’s a gray’s tree frog but sighting one in my area is very very rare. This is the first tree frog I have ever seen since I lived here for 30+ years

Unfortunately you can't tell a gray treefrog from Cope's treefrog unless you hear the call or know the area really well. I grew up in Virginia hearing only gray treefrogs and here in NC I only hear Cope's, that's how I know. I looked up Indiana and you have plenty of both.
Nice first spotting, tparks008. Welcome. I'm no frog expert, but I hope you find an ID for this fellow.
