Field Notes

Description:

A robust, shiny-leaved shrub with clusters of creamy yellow flowers in the spring. 2-3 m tall. A member of the Buckthorn family and not related to true dogwoods.

Habitat:

Dry sclerophyll bushland.

Notes:

This path on our property runs next to an ephemeral stream and is therefore a bit wetter than the rest of it. The Yellow dogwoods are concentrated here.

(Our dogs are always on lead and kept to the trails so that we don't disturb the wildlife.)
