Habitat:
Native to the Bahama Islands, the Cayman Islands and Cuba, it was introduced intentionally in Palm Beach, Florida, in the 1940s. Mostly terrestrial and will retreat into a burrow or cavity when frightened. It prefers sunny areas with loose rubble and rock. I've observed them mostly near dense commercial hedges.
Notes:
The Curly is back. I was surprised to see one back in 2018 for the first time in front of my house and had never seen one again since then. But this week this one is hanging out in front of the house again since last week.
