Description:

Blue-green algae are not algae at all, but types of bacteria called cyanobacteria. When conditions are right, the bacteria grow quickly and form "blooms". This makes the water toxic for animals.

Habitat:

Spotted along the shore of Wenas Lake. Elev. 1857 ft.
