Description:

For National Moth Week 2016, a grey moth about 2 cm long with white, yellow and orange markings. It has raised silver along the inner margins of the yellow bands on all 4 wings. Family Geometridae. This species occurs in Central America, southern Mexico, the Caribbean and has been seen in Ecuador and Guyana.

Habitat:

Came to an ultraviolet light set up along the highway on a cliff between San Cristobal and Tuxtla Gutierrez, km 18.5, 1164 meters.

Thank you Sukanya, you are right! Good job! There are several species of Phrygionis but this seems to be P. privignaria. There is some variation in base color, the one from Ecuador is much darker. This is the first time I've seen this moth in Chiapas.
