Field Notes

Description:

Taken on the highlands of Genovesa. Will hide in storm petrel cliff nests to ambush upon their return. One of the more diurnal owl species.

Habitat:

Rock cliffs where storm petrels nest; sparse vegetation

Notes:

Subspecies is endemic to Galápagos. I recommend looking up a video of one of them hunting, it is absolutely fascinating!

sorry about the terrible quality, they were far away so I had to take the pictures through my binoculars in failing light.
