Yes those are the seeds. but could be either species still... Both species are very thickety...herbacea has very small downward curving thorns and no true wood...crista-galli forms wood but often dies down completely outside of the tropics and so can look much like herbacea in the US...If you have any pics from further back that might help.

Definitely Erythrina need to see the leaves to be sure but I guess an escaped crista-galli rather than the native herbaceae
