Description:

Seen running around on the roadside. It is a large rodent related to guinea pigs. They are very fast runners and can give hunting dogs quite a chase.

Gilma, this Agouti might be 1 or 2 yrs old,I did see a beautiful adult, eating cashews/ These are very shy and they can live up to 20 yrs! Besides Macaws ,these are one of the few species that can crack open Brazil nuts without tools.
"It is a large rodent related to guinea pigs".....That is so interesting...The ones that come to my Garden are very large...And beautiful, their hair is shiny and reddish. Love those creatures.
