Field Notes

Description:

Orange and black stripped Spittlebug about 1 cm long, Family Cercopidae.

Habitat:

Forest and secondary growth under the San Cristobal Bridge on the Highway between San Cristobal de Las Casas and Tuxtla Gutierrez, km 15, 1,500 meters.

Notes:

A similar species of Ocoaxo was spotted in Honduras by Tom15:

Thank you bayucca, I haven't yet found one like this one, I'll keep looking. There are several orange and black ones!
Cercopidae, Ischnorhininae, Ocoaxo sp., however, not the one from the link. There are several species in Central America. Please, verify!
