The nutrea in this city park have become habituated to people and will come out to be hand fed.

Nutrea were brought to Oregon after the beaver were trapped out, to supply fur for the trade. They've fit well into the niche, and now live alongside beaver and muskrat. If there were ever a new fashion that featured nutrea fur, I bet they'd be gone pretty quick. The fact that they swim quickly probably protects them from coyote & cougar, of which we have some, if not as many as before.

? Are they? Had no idea. Maybe we're missing its natural predator... Did we kill it along the way? Thanks for the update. Sometimes things are just out of balance.

What are you talking about? Those animals are invasive and are incredibly detrimental to the environment in North America.

Adaptation is an effective way of surviving. Mankind is taking over they're habitats and it seems that these little follows found a way... Nice capture. Thanks for sharing.
