Description:
Papilio dardanus (the African Swallowtail, Mocker Swallowtail or Flying Handkerchief), is a species of butterfly in the family Papilionidae (the Swallowtails). The species is broadly distributed throughout sub-Saharan Africa.
It is a master of protective disguise, so protecting themselves against predators. Many female forms mimic inedible butterflies for protection..
Themales look very different from females, and are non-mimetic.
These butterflies fly swiftly through the trees, rarely landing.
Habitat:
Flying in and out of the forest that lined each side of a dirt road.
