Field Notes

Description:

Brown bird with black and white streaks on its tail. It has a purple-blue shiny spot on its neck and is not afraid of people. When it flies away, its tail makes a squeaking sound. Some have "dimples" in the middle of their chest and faint blue eye-rings.

Habitat:

Tropical, Urban/Rural, Waterside--Manmade and natural

Notes:

On vacation in Antigua. The locals call them pigeons. There were many of them, but one specific bird kept coming to our villa.

Keith, the way to tell the difference is the bluish markings on the sides of the nape, which the Mourning Doves lack.
When I saw that I swore it was a Mourning Dove, how can you tell the difference?
