Field Notes

Description:

A very common orb weaver here in New England. I noticed this cross spider struggling with a meadowhawk. By the time I got the camera, the prey was completely immobilized. However, it must have been a violent struggle as she lost one of her legs (visible a little above her on the edge of the board).

Habitat:

Porch.
