Field Notes

Description:

This beautiful, curious little bird has white eyebrows and a wide, black eye-stripe. The crown seems to be gray extending over the back and wings. The chin, throat chest and body are a creamy kind of colour. There appears to be wide, horizontal, dark gray stripes on the under-tail feathers and the outer-tail feathers are plain dark gray.

At first glance I thought this was a young Grey-crowned Babbler. However, I've only ever seen them hanging out in a flock of 6 or more and this little one was alone - so I'm completely unsure what it is.

Habitat:

Found in this tree along the edge of the Mankajarra Wetlands

Notes:

Thank you Joshua for the verification :)

Awesome! Thank you for the verification Joshua!!!
You got it! This species is not very common in this area, cool find.
I'm not sure enough to change from Unknown but I was wondering if someone was able to verify if this is a Black-eared Cuckoo (Chalcites osculans)??? It can be found here in the Kimberley region...
