Field Notes

Description:

Large tan moth with darker brown to black lines with a clear eyespot on each hindwing and forewing. The hindwing eyespots are especially exaggerated surrounded by yellow blue and black. This moth had the smaller, less feathery antennae of a female.

Habitat:

Rural yard in forest clearing with wet meadow along the drive up to the hpuse.

Notes:

Came to moth sheet and lights.
