Field Notes

Description:

What was described to me as a 'leaf bug'. It was just sitting on the deck at the lake house last summer.

Habitat:

Lake and wooded area. Lots of trees. It's perfectly camouflaged. Looks just like a leaf!

This is a katydid, probably from the genus Pterophylla, but I'm not sure if I can get it any closer than that. See http://bugguide.net/node/view/7075/bgimage for some guidance in this ID.
