Watched two cormorants standing close together one delicately passing a feather to the other.... totally changed my attitude towards them.

Thanks Dennis... the color in that estuary at high tide is gorgeous, I think it is the clay bottom that gives it the color. Apparently the success of the restored eagle population has taken a toll on the cormorant population .... give me even more reason to root for them.

What a lovely anecdote! Growing up I was taught that cormorants, as they so efficiently ate Atlantic salmon struggling to recover in the Penobscot, are evil. As such I never paid them much attention, except glancing ill will. But now I think they're quite marvelous :)
