Field Notes

Habitat:

I was taking a break from working and this butterfly decided to take a break too. It may be a polydamus, I've only ever seen them come to rest on the pipevines.

Species ID Suggestions

Swallowtail

Comments (1)

You are right, it is a Polydamus. It lays it's eggs on the Pipevine and that is why you see it there so much. If people take note of where they find a caterpillar (what kind of plant) you can always tell pretty much what kind of butterfly it will be.
