Field Notes

Description:

Small, fast black bird with reddish orange throat. It is not afraid of humans, and is brave, (because it came into our villa, and landed on our heads). It had a finch-like beak, which was black, and it made small chirping noises.

Habitat:

Tropical, slightly urban/ rural

Notes:

Came into our villa twice. In the guide, it said that the Orange quit was endemic to Jamaica, but the bird that i saw met ALL the descriptions of the Orange quit, and i was in Antigua. There was no other bird in the guide that looked remotely like the bird i saw, so i'm very confused by this sighting.
