Field Notes

Description:

Asparagus like, banded stalks with caps. They grow in clusters.

Habitat:

Along the fence line of a parking lot near the Port of Everett.

Notes:

I will take new photos as the plants mature.

Species ID Suggestions

Horsetails

Equisetum sp.

Horsetails does appear to be the correct ID. I will keep my eyes on them and try to pin down the exact variant. Thanks
It is not a mushroom, but a very primitive plant made largely of silica, giving it a grit that led to its other common name, Scouring Rush.
This is the fertile stalk, which will not last the year. The vegetative stalk will appear soon.
