Field Notes

Description:

Body stout. Wings black with orange markings. Female with smaller orange markings than male and sometimes uniform dark brown. Wingspan to about 4 cm. (1.5 inches)

Habitat:

Seeing it fairly regularly around my garden at the moment feeding on nectar from my daisies.

These look much like what we call skippers in Nevada. Nice photos, James!
I've always added them there. Insects are part of the animalia kingdom, so they'll be fine :)
