On closer inspection I've realized the flower is indeed attached to the trunk of the tree (a habit of the guyabano). Supposing that the vine is a type of epiphytic philodendron, I've seached and searched for an ID. Can anyone please HELP? (thanks, alice and nath, for the help.)
It sure appears that you're correct. But this flower was 'on' the vine just six feet up the trunk of a pretty big tree and I don't recall any other such flowers among its leaves or branches.
The flower is a guyabano flower. The vine, I don't know but maybe not related to the guyabano.
I used to play with a similar flower in the Philippines. I can't remember the name.
