Galium Sphinx Moth

Sphinx Moths, about 100 N.A. species, have large stout larvae that hold the body erect, in a sphinx-like position. Most larvae have a horn at the rear of the body. Adults are powerful fliers; they often have long proboscis, used to suck nectar. Some are called hawk moths for their swooping flight; others, hummingbird moths because they hover while feeding.
