Field Notes

Description:

Grey-blue body with white thin feathers that stick up when fluffed. Grey-brown neck with white thin feathers. The Head has a lot of white with a very long orange sharp beak. Has black eyebrows that stick up over the head. Brown long feet.

Habitat:

Flooded canal that leads to a lake. In the mostly covered cranberry bushes and the flooded berm.

Notes:

This one came in the morning and then evening every day to catch fish. When the area is flooded there is large pan fish like Pumpkinseed Sunfish and Bluegills.
It was amazing to watch them eat a fish bigger than their face. After they ate they would hunker down and fluff up.
