Description:
This Stilt-legged Bug was only 5 mm in body length and was sitting on some flowers in the night, I thought it was a Crane Fly until I saw the pictures magnified. These are in the Family Berytidae and differ from the Thread-legged bugs (which are Reduviids) in having the first pair of legs similar to the others and not raptorial, having tiny clubs on the ends of the antennae and in the small swellings at the ends of the femora. Stilt-legged bugs are usually sap suckers.
Habitat:
On the small flowers of a bush in the garden, semi-rural residential area, San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico 2,200 meters.
