Field Notes

Description:

Large white mushroom. Cap hemispherically convex, smooth, with raised brown scales and floccose, slightly appendicular margin. Cap dimensions: diameter 85 mm; height 45 mm. Stem creamy white with some light brown streaks, cylindrical, tapering slight slightly toward top. Prominent annulus near top. Stem dimensions: height 170 mm; lower diameter 12 mm; upper diameter 9 mm. Gills white to lightly green, free, crowded.

Habitat:

Suburban neighborhood on mesic, tropical, insular lowland plateau.

Notes:

Spotted growing in a lawn.
