Field Notes

Description:

Older specimen of a Bleeding fungus, probably Hydnellum peckii (though I'm not 100% sure). Located near the California coast in a redwood forest. Older specimen is turning grey, but still has the characteristic bleeding goo.

Habitat:

Beneath a large Redwood, about 400 feet above the ocean near the coast of northern California. Shady, but adjacent to a small clearing.
