I have added a crop of the head from the original picture, see pic 4. This shows no evidence of the elongated nostril midway between the eye and snout which would be present if it were a Clouded Monitor. There are many pictures on the internet which claim to be Clouded Monitors but are not. See pic 3 here for the snout of a Clouded Monitor: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/5871052
Hi James, I thought the same at first from the skin but the main difference is that this one appears to have the nostrils near the tip of the snout as per the Water Monitor, the Clouded Monitor has nostrils midway between snout and eye. This one appear to have them closer to the snout.
