I've searcched all morning and this is a possibity: Begonia Conchifolia

That makes much more sense, Daniel. I'll set off in that direction looking for an ID. But I don't think it will be easy: I don't recall begonia-type leaves; this spray of flowers seemed to just appear in the lushness. Anyone with ideas?
