Description:
This is one of the few species of sunflower with fewer than 10 petals. The Small-headed Sunflower normally has 5 to 8 slightly ribbed yellow ray florets surrounding a yellow central disk.

Native to the eastern part of the United States, mostly south and central

Found growing in open woodlands
Notes:
Spotted along a dirt road in Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park
