Description:

Beautiful, bright red flower with fringed petals on a small tree with narrow trunk, approximately 2m high.

Habitat:

Growing naturally in sand near a beach in a hot, humid climate.

After some googling I see they can in fact look exactly like this one. Sorry, I should not rely so much on wikipedia!
I don't think it's a Chinese hibiscus - it was growing on a tree, not a shrub, and the petals of a Chinese are not fringed along the edges.
