Description:

ranging in size from4-8 inches indiameter

Habitat:

saw these in many places where there was room for a tall tree

Notes:

was told they were gourds of some sort; they are dry very dark and hard and are often etched as souvenirs

It's a type of tree-borne gourd. They dry hard and hollow and are often etched as souvenirs (as in the third photo).
