Description:
Leaves are thin, grass-like blades, but despite its name is not a grass at all. The flower is generally blue and small-- about a half inch across with yellow reproductive parts. The plant rarely gets more than a foot tall.
Habitat:
Grasslands.
Notes:
There are about 150 species of blue-eyed grass; this photo is probably Sisyrinchium angustifolium or montanum. This attractive prairie species is sensitive to light and often doesn't open except in direct sunlight, staying closed on cloudy days.
