Field Notes

Description:

large parasitic bloom, 24" diameter

Habitat:

bamboo and rainforest

Notes:

Rafflesia blooms last only about a week. This one was open about 5 days before I got to it. It's been my goal as a traveler and horticulturist to see as many of the 15 or so species of Rafflesia in the wild, 5 down, 10 to go! I spotted this in Khao Sok National Park.
