Field Notes

Description:

Broad leaf evergreen that is rounded in overall shape. With an alternate leaf pattern, and a leaf that is leathery and slightly sticky on the underside, growing 1 to 4 inches in length. Plant mature height: 6 feet. Mature width: 6 feet. Light purple/lavender flowers. Some variation.

Habitat:

USDA Hardiness: 4 -25 degrees F. Sun tolerant, would like some shade. Found throughout Portland Metro area as well as other places.

Notes:

likes acidic well drained soil. Blooms from February to April in Portland.
