Field Notes

Description:

Three white petals per flower, one flower per stalk with three glossy leaves per stalk. The white turns to pink as they age.

Habitat:

In temperate coastal rain forest, under Sitka spruce, Douglas fir and western hemlock.

Notes:

They began blooming late this year, and seem smaller than last year. The trilliums that bloom near the ocean are different from those that grow on the east side of the Coast Range.
