Description:
Attractive snake with dark and yellow pattern, varies from dark to light.
Head is somewhat large with venom sacs on the side of the head. Not an aggressive snake, but will bite if molested.
Habitat:
Woodland snake, mostly nocturnal, can be seen in hollow logs and under rock ledges.
Notes:
This is the first one I have seen in over thirty years. The state of Indiana has them on their protected animal list.
