Description:
A Nightjar species found in South Asia. These nocturnal birds have an amazing camouflage, blending perfectly with the habitat. Since they roost on the ground their camouflage protects them from predators during the day when it's roosting time for them.
Habitat:
Wild Ass Sanctuary encompasses an area of 4953.71 sq. km. of the Little Rann of Kutch, India. It's unique habitat comprises of saline mudflats, marshes, scrub-land and large seasonal wetlands.
Notes:
I got lucky with this shot. While approaching this bird, it noticed my presence and flew a few feet away from me. That's when I could capture the upright stance of this Nightjar, which is rarely seen.
Those tiny feet sure are not to be missed !
