Giant african land snail

We received that alarm few weeks ago, about finding giant african snails near my city, they said the snail can kill (is that true?). The first snail was found in March near the Colombian Amazon, authorities said some people brought them illegally to sell their meat.

I've had A. fulica (and other Achatinidae) for some years. This does not look like any Achatinidae I've seen. It probably is a native specie. Nice picture! Kind regards from Norway
